SafOil supplies a range of vegetable acid oils and Spent Bleaching Earth Oil (SBEO) — high-FFA residue streams from vegetable-oil refining that serve as cost-effective feedstock for biodiesel and oleochemical producers. These materials sit at the value end of the feedstock spectrum, and buyers who can process high free-fatty-acid streams use them to improve blend economics without compromising output quality.
Vegetable acid oils
Acid oils are by-products of the alkali refining of vegetable oils, recovered when the soapstock is acidulated. They are high in free fatty acids, which makes them well suited to esterification routes in biodiesel production and to fatty-acid manufacture in the oleochemical sector. SafOil sources three main streams:
- Soya acid oil — a high-FFA residue from soybean oil refining, sourced for consistent export supply.
- Cottonseed acid oil — a vegetable acid-oil residue for biodiesel and oleochemical conversion, available for contract and spot supply.
- Rice bran acid oil — a high-FFA by-product of rice bran oil refining, with steady volumes from Asian sources.
| Stream | Character | Packing |
|---|---|---|
| Soya acid oil | High FFA | Flexitank / bulk |
| Cottonseed acid oil | High FFA | On enquiry |
| Rice bran acid oil | High FFA | Flexitank / ISO tank |
Spent Bleaching Earth Oil (SBEO)
SBEO is the oil recovered from spent bleaching earth — the adsorbent clay used in edible-oil refining. It is an Annex IX Part A advanced residue feedstock, with FFA typically up to around 25%, suited to esterification and HVO processing routes. Like POME, its advanced classification is what drives its value, so documentation and chain of custody are central to how we handle it. SBEO ships in ISO tanks with a certificate of analysis per batch.
Quality, documentation and consistency
Acid oils and SBEO vary by source, so per-batch testing matters more here than almost anywhere else in the feedstock range. Every consignment is lab-checked before loading and ships with a certificate of analysis, and we are transparent about the sustainability classification of each stream so your compliance team can treat it correctly. Where a material qualifies as advanced feedstock, we provide the ISCC-aligned documentation to support that status.
Markets and supply model
These streams move to biodiesel and oleochemical buyers across Asia and the European Union. Volumes for some grades are more specialised and quoted on enquiry, matched to firm demand. We quote FOB Malaysian ports or CIF to your discharge port, in flexitank, ISO-tank or bulk arrangements depending on the material and volume.

Frequently asked questions
Which acid oils does SafOil supply?
We source soya acid oil, cottonseed acid oil and rice bran acid oil — all high-FFA residues from vegetable-oil refining — alongside Spent Bleaching Earth Oil (SBEO).
Is SBEO an advanced feedstock?
Yes. Spent Bleaching Earth Oil is an Annex IX Part A advanced residue feedstock, typically with FFA up to around 25%, suited to esterification and HVO processing. We provide ISCC-aligned documentation to support its classification.
Why is per-batch testing important for acid oils?
Acid oils and SBEO vary by source more than most feedstocks, so we lab-check every consignment before loading and issue a certificate of analysis per batch to confirm the grade you receive.
Are these available for spot and contract supply?
Yes. Some grades are more specialised and quoted on enquiry, matched to firm demand, but we support both spot parcels and recurring contracts.
